Purpose
As a health physics technician, you will work within industrial, medical and government facilities. Other areas they may assist with may include helping health physicians and a variety of other professionals in the medical field, collect data, teach personnel and prepare instruments. Guidance may not be required for the teaching of personnel.
Additional Tasks
Other tasks that are required of health physics techs is to assess the situations involved with radiation either within the safety limits or outside of safety limits, applying appropriate control for radiation.
Education
If you would like to work as a health physics tech, you will need to go to school for two years studying health physics. Another route is to get a degree in physics or another related field before beginning training as a health physics technician.

The median salary for health physics techs in 2010 is between $27,500 to $47,500. After working for 20 or so years, you could end up making around $80,000 annually.
