Career Quest Learning Center
The CQLC, or Career Quest Learning Center, was founded in 1995 and is an affiliate of Career Quest Inc. It has an aim on vocational training and offering solutions to individuals who are looking to return back to work. Back in 2004, CQLC, was recognized as the first Michigan institution to become accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. The medical assistant certificate offered by the CQLC was created to help graduates prepare for employment in the medical fields. Within the course, students learn about helping physicians with exams, treatment, clinical procedures, lab procedures, word processing, medical billing and coding and other office procedures. Students are given a foundation in medical terms, physiology and anatomy. An externship is also required to apply the skills you have learned in a real setting. Externships take place within medical facility, before graduating. Financial aid, Federal Pell Grants, Federal Plus Loan Program and Stafford Loan Program are offered to students who are looking to get financial help for schooling. Job placement assistance is also available.

Everest Institute
Also offering medical assisting courses is Everest Institute. In their program, students are educated about the required skills of an entry-level medical assistant. Once graduated, students are able to work in clinics, doctor offices, medical supply businesses, hospitals, home health care agencies, insurance companies, nursing homes and pharmaceutical companies. Once you graduate, you'll be able to provide duties that include taking vital signs, performing diagnostic and lab tests and working with professional environment with organizational, management and communication skills. Other job duties you may endure include pharmacology, clinical assisting, cardiopulmonary procedures, lab proceudres, therapeutic care and bookkeeping. A 160-hour externship is also required upon graduation. There are multiple financial aid options that are available at Everest Institute. This is a Michigan accredited school.

Alpena Community College
At Alpena Community College, the medical assistant program takes 2 years to complete. After graduation, you will be given an associate's degree in applied science. An internship is also required within a doctor's office at the time of school completion. During your first year, you will take classes that involve medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical office transcription, ethics and law for healthcare professionals. During your second year, you will have to learn about general psychology, medical assistant clinical practices and medical assistant clinical lab. This school is also accredited in Michigan.
