Before searching for a board certified refresher course, first confirm that you have not practiced for four years or more. You can do this by taking a look at your work history.
Take a look at the Louisiana Board of Practical Nurse Examiners, or LSBPNE, website to find out about the refresher courses that are being offered for licensed practical nurses. You can go directly to the refresher classes' page to see updated listings at http://www.lsbpne.com/refresher_courses.htm.
Take the time to also look at the practical nursing programs that are available. You can find the listings on the LSBPNE site. The refresher courses are only a select few of the courses that you're able to take, so don't underestimate the amount of classes that are available. On the list, you'll also be able to see listings of schools that offer LPN refresher courses throughout the year.
Find the schools that are closest to you and contact each of them. Make sure to ask about the refresher courses and their availability. From there, you should be able to pick the class that suits your schedule.
Now, you need to contact the LSBPNE to get approval before taking the refresher course to ensure that you'll get your license reinstated. Let them know which school you'll be taking the course to ensure that it is approved by LSBPNE.
Finish the course you've chosen and then recertify for your license through the LSBPNE. Contact their office and question them about the renewal application for license practical nurses. Avoid submitting your application through the Internet. If you would like to request a license renewal application via the Web, you can do so by contacting renewals@lsbpne.com.
