To get the PA license you have to pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam of the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Only graduates of certified programs can take this exam. Having got the license and if one wants remain certified one has to complete 100 hours of medical education every two years. Every six years they must take an exam to be recertified or complete another program and take home exam.
