There are a tremendous amount of opportunities in the healthcare field today and the amount of healthcare jobs available is only expected to grow in the coming years! This is good news for those people who would like to find healthcare jobs in the industry, and a large amount of that growth is taking place in government healthcare industries. Today the federal government employs more than 135,000 qualified healthcare workers, including 50,000 Registered Nurses, and that number continues to grow. There are all sorts of ways in which your role as a healthcare professional can help your community and working for local and state governments in one of the many healthcare jobs available is just one example of government healthcare careers.

When you are on your search to find a healthcare job whether in the government or private sector the first and foremost question you'll want to ask yourself is whether you are qualified. Most, if not all, of the healthcare jobs available require some sort of education. For example, a Medical Assistant position usually requires the candidate being certified by some type of program through an Associate's Degree. In addition, Registered Nurses usually are required to hold a four-year degree from an accredited institution and the same goes for various other healthcare jobs available in the field.

Working as a Healthcare Case Manager

One of the healthcare job opportunities that are available is that of the Case Manager. These types of positions are extremely important to the individual and everyone else in the community because Case Managers in the healthcare field are oftentimes referred to as the glue that holds everything together. In other words, the role of the Case Manager is to make sure that the patient has everything that he or she needs from the time that patient enters the hospital. A Case Manager is usually an advocate on behalf of the patient for anything non-medical related, such as acting as health insurance advocates, finding the appropriate people for the patient to communicate with on certain issues, as well as a variety of other roles that come up in this type of position.

Veterans Affairs Healthcare Jobs

On your search to find healthcare jobs for your career, one of the industries that you'll find is usually always hiring new people is the federal government. Specifically, the Veterans Affairs Department is the sector in government that needs lots of healthcare workers because the vital roles they fulfill in communities throughout the nation are the taking care of veterans across the United States.

A couple of types of healthcare jobs available through Veterans Affairs are Registered Nurse positions and Psychologist positions. Registered Nurses are used to take care of veterans living in the United States who receive their healthcare from the government. Psychologists are employed by the government's VA department to take care of the mental health of veterans through counseling services and psychotherapy. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is one example of the many mental health problems that may occur in soldiers and other veterans coming back from major wars, and this needs to be continually addressed by Psychologists who work for Veterans Affairs.

Department of Health and Human Services

Other healthcare jobs for the government that you may be able to find in your community are through the Department of Health and Human Services. These types of healthcare jobs available can usually be found in clinics and various government agencies throughout your community. If you'd like to find healthcare jobs in this line of work then some of the positions you will be able to look for include Medical Assisting roles, Registered Nurse roles, as well as Medical Receptionist jobs that may include medical billing and coding.

Many of the Registered Nurse and Medical Assisting positions that are healthcare jobs through the Department of Health and Human Services may require working at a Medicaid clinic, which is the government-run program that provides free healthcare to those who can't afford any other private health insurance. In addition, some other positions that contribute to your community in this type of government job include Nutritionists, Case Managers, and Social Workers.

Army Hospitals

Yet another government sector in which you can find healthcare jobs is in Army Hospitals overseas. Just as Veterans Affairs provides healthcare to veterans in the United States, healthcare professionals that are hired by the Army, Navy, or Air Force provide medical care and attention to those individuals stationed overseas throughout the world at various military bases. Army Hospitals and healthcare teams throughout the world are made up of Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, Psychologists, Physical Therapists, as well as Occupational Therapists.

As you can see, the healthcare jobs available are varied and diverse for those that would like to work in a government-hired role or even in the private sector. The rate of growth for Registered Nurses especially is one that should attract future nurses to the healthcare field, and the growing number of healthcare professionals that are being hired by the government and Veterans Affairs is also very encouraging to those trying to find healthcare jobs. If you have the proper education and desire to work in a healthcare role for your career then there are plenty available and some may just be located in your own community!

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
