Do not speak in a loud way that is stressful to you. Avoid speaking or singing when your voice is hoarse.
WHISPERING
Whispering can strain the vocal cords more than speaking does.
VOICE REST
Find alternative ways to communicate. Use a quiet voice or take voice breaks, such as using electronic messaging or writing notes.
THINGS TO AVOID
Limit your intake of things that irritate or dry out your voice like cigarettes, pollution, caffeine and alcohol.
STAY HYDRATED
Drink plenty of fluids. Keep your vocal cords moist with six to eight glasses of water a day.
SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP
Be aware of the effects of vocal fatigue and consider a vocal therapist to save your voice.
