The RetCam II is a mobile, self-contained system consisting of a fiber-optic camera, computer with special software and color monitor. It is used to screen for disorders of the retina in children.
HOW RETCAM II WORKS
- Advanced lenses fit directly on the cornea, quickly and safely scanning an infant's eye in about five minutes.
- The operator uses a hand held fiber-optic camera, which can be angled to visualize all parts of the retina.
- It documents lesions at the posterior pole, the optic nerve and peripheral retina by means of digital photographs.
- Images are viewed on its video monitor and instantly stored on a DVD disc for future diagnoses.
