- Take care of your feet. If you already have painful corns or callus problems, see a podiatrist. Take your shoes to a pedorthist to have them tailored to fit your feet.
- Choose the right size shoe and insert heel cups for a more comfortable fit. Do not squeeze into a smaller size or width.
- Wear a shorter heels. Podiatrists recommend 1 to 2 inches for comfort and foot health, without shifting weight fully onto the ball of your foot.
- Buy shoes in the afternoon when feet are slightly swollen.
- Try to save the use of your high-heeled shoes for functions where you will not be on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Avoid backless or extremely flimsy high heels. Choose pumps, or sandals with ankle straps that will add support for the ankles.
