As an ultrasound technologist, you will utilize a hand held device that is pressed up against the skin of the patients you're working with. It captures images of the organs and even fetuses within the body. The reason for this device is to ensure that a medical condition is recovering or a fetus is growing properly.
Setting
In this field, you will be able to work within places like testing centers, doctors' offices, outpatient radiology and hospitals.
Schedule
In most cases, ultrasound techs are known to work regular 40 hour work weeks. If you're employed within a hospital could end up working weekends and at night, along with other medical facilities that are open 24 hours a day.
Training
You can get an education to work as an ultrasound technologist by getting into a medical training school. You can also find such programs within hospitals and tech schools. You will need to obtain either an associate's or bachelor's degree, which are offered at community colleges, universities and junior colleges.

The average annual salary for this field ranges between $30,000 and $70,000.
