In order to find subjects to study, clinical research associates solicit people about their research on a new drug or other treatment that is non-surgical. Their role is to explain the research that will be done and its potential side effects. The associates are also required to process consent forms that are signed by the patients - in most cases the patients are paid for their participation in the study.
Another role of a clinical researcher is to monitor the process of the study, along with supervising their fellow co-workers. They come to the testing facility to make sure that everything is going according to plan.
The results of the clinical research are analyzed by the clinical research associates. They view the body fluids of patients and their effects from the drugs. The information gathered is then recorded into a database.
In some cases, the associates will publish the study's results in scholarly medical journals. For instance, he or she may do research on a new drug made for those suffering from depression and then publish the results in American Psychology Association's journal.
In some instances, clinical researchers are known to be asked to speak at a conference about their clinical research. So if a researcher performed a study on specific natural remedies for kidney failure, he or she would speak at convention that is specially geared towards kidney failure.
