As a licensed dietitian, you will have to be knowledgeable about multiple areas, and you will have to obtain certification from your state in order to practice. If you are looking to become a dietician, you can take these easy steps to starting your new career.
Instructions
Step One: The first thing you will need to do is find out what the requirements are in your state to become a licensed dietician. You can find out this information by looking online at Allied Health Schools. It is known that you must obtain a bachelor's degree from an accredited school. Some of the courses you will study for include psychology, mathematics, biology and statistics.
Step Two: Your next step is to find an education grant and/or a loan. You can find links for education loans on the Pell Grant website. There, you will also find the Federal Student Aid application.
Step Three: Now, you will need to get involved in an internship or work as an assistant. This is also a good time to begin networking in order to find places you can obtain hands-on-training. To get a degree as a nutritionist, you will have to go to school for 12 months in a CADE-accredited program.
Step Four: Now, you can take your exam for licensing. Thirty five states require that you obtain a license to work as a dietician, while another 12 states requires at least a certification. The American Dietitian Association has its own exam that you will take that will give you the credentials you need to begin working as a dietitian.
