The American Medical Association launches multimillion-dollar ad campaign



The American Medical Association has launched a three-year, multimillion-dollar ad campaign to augment its plan to provide health coverage for the reported 45 million people in America who don’t have insurance.  Commenting on the campaign, Dr. Nancy H. Nielsen, the AMA's president-elect, said, “There’s a misconception about who the uninsured are.  One in seven people are uninsured…[and] 82% of those who lack health insurance are in a family where someone earns a paycheck.”  The campaign, “Voice for the Uninsured,” will be launched during the upcoming presidential elections and will target voters and White House candidates.  The AMA has recommended the use of tax credits or vouchers to help people buy health insurance.

Medical Bill Review Services and change:healthcare LLC to join forces

Medical Bill Review Services, Inc. has entered into a strategic alliance with change:healthcare LLC. The move will provide Medical Bill Review Services’ customers with an original, co-branded version of MedBillManager. MedBillManager is an online program that offers individuals a safe way to organize and manage their healthcare expenditures. The company will use MedBillManager for documentation of clients’ bills and claims for assessment, possible negotiations with providers, and bill-auditing services. Medical Bill Review offers services such as medical billing and compliance review. The company, based in Nashville, specializes in medical claims, healthcare insurance, and compliance consulting for individuals, claims administrators, corporations, medical providers, and healthcare facilities. The change:healthcare product line includes MedBillManager and FindYourDoc.

Bear Stearns 20th Annual Healthcare Conference to be presented by NuVasive
NuVasive, Inc. has reported that Alex Lukianov, chairman and chief executive officer, and Kevin O’Boyle, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will present the Bear Stearns 20th Annual Healthcare Conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City on Tuesday, September 11. A live webcast of the presentation will be available for viewing online at the company’s corporate website (www.nuvasive.com). The presentation will remain on NuVasive’s website for 30 days after the live webcast is over. NuVasive develops medical devices with focus on the development and marketing of products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders.
