Innovative Wellness Program launched to fight rising healthcare costs
demandFITNESS recently launched its corporateADVANTAGE program (http://corporate.demandfitness.com). Presently, the program offers more than 200 on-demand fitness classes, tools to set and track goals, and health-risk assessments tailored to each participant. Employees are offered solutions with the advantages of increased productivity and higher employee morale at much lower costs than traditional corporate wellness programs. Classes can be streamed or downloaded directly to participants with the simple click of a mouse. New classes are added weekly to the website's existing library. This program is intended to appeal all members of the workforce and their families.
Rally to support Sheila Kuehl's revolutionary bill, SB840
An association of registered physicians, nurses, and consumer groups recently held a rally in Los Angeles to back Sheila Kuehl's revolutionary bill, SB840, that endorses guaranteed healthcare through a single-payer model. Throughout the year, events have been held around the state in support of single-payer healthcare model. Last year, on August 12, 2006, a statewide educational campaign, "Healthcare for All/OneCareNow," for SB840 was launched in Morro Bay after Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill that was approved by a majority of the California Assembly and Senate. Attendance at the rally included SB840 author Sen. Sheila Kuehl; the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee president; actress Lily Tomlin; Deborah Burger, RN; and many others.
