Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc. is ready to acquire a hospice company in Albuquerque for $51.5 million and 10 skilled nursing facilities, including 1,180 beds, in the Albuquerque area. The hospice company is affiliated with Albuquerque's Laurel Healthcare Providers, LLC, and the purchase includes all companies associated with Laurel Healthcare. The nursing facilities include Laurel Canyon Healthcare, Laurel Heights Healthcare, Laurel Skies Healthcare, Laurel View Healthcare, Arbor Brook, Arbor Creek, Arbor Springs, and Hospice of the Sandias, all based in Albuquerque. Laurel Plains Healthcare and Laurel Ridge Healthcare are Clovis based, while Laurel Meadows Healthcare is located in Belen. The subsidiaries of Skilled Healthcare Group own expert nursing and assisted living facilities, a rehabilitation therapy program, and a hospice.
CIGNA HealthCare purchases Sagamore Health Network
Bloomfield-based CIGNA HealthCare has acquired Sagamore Health Network, Inc., the largest and oldest-leased supplier of healthcare networks in Indiana. The terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed. With 9,400 primary care physicians; 26,600 specialists; and 1,100 ancillary providers, Carmel-based Sagamore Health Network serves over 200 hospitals and more than 300,000 members. Sagamore will continue operating under its own brand. CIGNA HealthCare provides behavioral-health coverage, dental coverage, medical benefits plans, pharmacy benefits, products, and services and combines and analyzes information that supports consumerism and health advocacy. David M. Cordani, president of CIGNA HealthCare, said that acquiring Sagamore "brings strong new competition to the state's health benefits and services marketplace."
